How Organisations Adopt the AI Usage Classifications Framework
Plan the work and set the expectations
When planning the development of content based artifacts or products, teams, and where relevant clients, should discuss whether AI should be used and to what extent. This allows members to raise concerns, discuss risks and opportunities and reach a shared understanding that establishes clear expectations before development begins.

Identify the correct classification
Once the artifact or product is complete, team members use the AIUC Navigator to determine the appropriate classification for each item. By answering a few straightforward questions, the tool assesses how AI contributed to the work and provides the applicable AIUC badge. This step ensures your disclosure is applied in alignment with the Code of Practice.
Please use this demonstration to explore and better understand how the Navigator assists users in accurately identifying the appropriate classification for their artifacts; this example is provided for capability illustration only and does not represent the actual AIUC Navigator interface.
Apply classification
Once the correct badge is identified, apply it to your artefact or product in accordance with Section 5.02 of the AIUC Code of Practice. This visual mark clearly conveys the extent of AI involvement and reflects your organisation’s dedication to transparent and responsible use of AI.

Publish
After classification, the artefact or product can be published with its badge prominently and clearly displayed. Any questions or concerns raised around AI usage can be confidently addressed, and staff can rest assured that their contribution is recognised.
Validate and Audit
Where artefacts or products are submitted externally by professional subscribers, recipients can validate the artefact ID to confirm that the original guidance generated by the AIUC Navigator aligns with the stated classification. Organisations may also use the AIUC Navigator to assess and audit internal AI usage.
